JJ VALAYA, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
JJ Valaya was born in 1967 in Jodhpur and travelled across various cities in India since his father was in the Indian Army. Whilst in school, he discovered his creative bent of mind through canvases & calligraphy. Though he graduated with a Honours degree in Commerce and even interned with a Chartered accountant, he finally found his true calling when he joined the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in 1989, going on to excel and win several awards.
In 1992, he, along with his brother, ex-army man, TJ Singh, launched his eponymous label JJ VALAYA. He enjoys the privilege of being a part of the pioneering group of Indian fashion designers and is a founding member of the Board of Governors of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), and was also the first official brand ambassador for global crystal giant, Swarovski in India.
He is widely regarded as one of India’s leading fashion gurus and founder of one of its most respected luxury fashion and lifestyle houses, a journey that has earned him the title of the ‘Czar of Indian Couture’.
Alongside a successful career in luxury Fashion & Lifestyle, he has also fostered an increasing love for the visual arts as a critically acclaimed Photographer. He has been a part of several solo and group art shows and has 3 Photography books to his credit and often, also photographs the campaigns for his fashion brands.
Established in 1992, JJ VALAYA is our Couture label and has been consistently creating masterpieces for more than 3 decades. The finest craftsmanship, luxurious fabrics and intricate detailing come together in perfect ensembles for special occasions with a special focus on wedding couture.

JJV acknowledges and embraces this need, where one can still maintain a unique sense of personal style albeit sans the weight of heavy embroideries. JJV retains the distinct signature of the JJ Valaya ethos, yet is a modern label for the modern traveler who likes to be prepared for celebrations wherever he/she may go.

Each Muse creation takes between 6-10 months to craft, incorporating elements like real silver threads, semi-precious stones, pearls and other fine materials. These garments are never replicated, ensuring they remain unique heirlooms for future generations. Every detail, from intricate embroidery to flawless craftsmanship, elevates the pieces into lasting works of art.
The journey does not end with the garment. To commemorate this extraordinary process, each Muse creation is lovingly placed into a bespoke handcrafted trunk, a treasure trove of meaningful details. The trunk contains the stencil and pattern of the ensemble, safeguarding its exclusivity and providing a resource for restoration. It also includes a beautifully rendered and signed artistic sketch of the garment, a personalized letter from the creative director, and a custom potli bag inspired by the lehenga’s embroidery. Adding an element of sensory luxury, delicately scented potpourri pouches infuse sophistication into the Muse’s wardrobe.
